Irresistible Mistakes: Yukihisa Maki

My thoughts on Voltage Inc. Otome Game "Irresistible Mistakes" Character Yukihisa Maki.

So, I only read this story because it was for free. I have played his sample story before, only because I really like Irresistible Mistakes as a game. It is much more mature than many other otome games in Voltage's Love 365 app. The whole story is set around your mysterious one night stand..

And to the point.. I wasn't into Yukihisa based on the sample story, because he seemed to be the typical perv character, which I can't stand. Lol. I am not into the ecchii stuff at all!! Also, the fact that he is a doctor is not appealing to me at all. But I started to story from curiosity and I have admit, this story was the kind that really surprised me, in a positive way.

He is actually not a pervert.. He actually comes across having an antisocial personality disorder, which makes him honestly intriguing. He is very straightforward in his communication, most importantly he is trying to analyze you all the time (and yes, he is always in point), and it actually makes the dialogue option thing finally something you feel like might have a real difference in the story..

I really felt like I could actually like this person in real life and their love story felt very natural. It is also one of the most mature/sexual main stories I have read, which was a pleasant surprise. The MC is not completely brainless either, she is not the typical crybaby or a weakling, and that is actually one reason why Yukihisa seems to like her.

In the end, I really have to give this full five stars. What a positively surprising and well written main story!

Kissed by the Baddest Bidder: Sory-Oh

This is a review of Voltage Inc. Otome Game Kissed By The Baddest Bidder: Sory Oh storyline.

He is the dangerous, silent type. Sory Oh was the first character story that I picked to play in Kissed By.. I guess I tend to go for the quiet silent types most of the time.. He is not necessarily very mean to you, but he tends to ignore you and belittle you. You have to take care of his mafia quest that arrives to Tokyo, and in the process you two fall in love. I liked Sory Oh's storyline because the pacing was slow enough for me to believe that they actually fell for each other.

The MC also clearly cares for Sory Oh, and tries to see what he is actually doing is making the mafia better. There is also a very nice twist in the end that is really heart wrenching. He clearly takes care of people around him and because of his complicated life in the mafia, he is not shying away from using violent methods..

This was a fairly strong story, and in all fairness it felt much more real than Eisuke's story. Their stories have something similar in them though.. and I have to say I preferred Sory Oh's version.

Kissed By the Baddest Bidder: Eisuke

This is a review of Eisuke's mainstory in Voltage Inc. Otome game called Kissed by the Baddest Bidder.

As for all traditional Otome games, Kissed by.. has all the character stereotypes you might expect. Eisuke is the so called possessive, mean (rich) guy, who eventually warms up to you. I liked how the story started with him, but it felt like it progressed way too fast and his feelings started to come out from nowhere. Initially he treats you like a pet, and it is honestly really annoying.

Another "romantic interest" in this mainstory is the MC's coworker/boss, who is actually really nice and caring person and they seem to hit it off. For some reason Eisuke's "troubled" past, dominating behavior and charms is enough for the insecure MC to fall in love with the multimillionaire playboy.

I think I have trouble with the mean archetypes in general, because the execution requires a longer story to be believable. I do like Eisuke for various reasons, but their relationship in the end seems pretty rushed and forced. I feel like this story could have easily had 5 more chapters and it would have been much more satisfying conclusion.

Also the fact that he owns the 3 Spades hotel and you are still working as a cleaning maid and his "dog" annoyed me. This guy has all the money in the world, why would he let his so-called girlfriend work as a cleaning maid?

Nevertheless, I enjoyed Eisuke Ichinomiya's story and his character, but I think this is not the strongest story regarding how much immersion I felt.

Thoughts / Rant about the Story of Yanxi Palace [SPOILERS]

I just finished watching the Story of Yanxi Palace. And here are my thoughts..

And I am not sure how I feel about it. The way they ended the story ..it was historically correct, but to me it didn't feel much of a satisfying ending. I almost felt like they pushed the story to a certain point for the sake of the plot and lot of characters were cut short because of it.

China has restricted the amount of episodes for period dramas, so that has been the main reason why Story of Yanxi palace felt so rushed towards the end.

But to me something else felt off, and I can't ignore my thoughts.

The reason why the drama felt so compelling and great was solely because of the main female lead. Character of Wei Yingluo is the feminist of Qing empire and we were rooting for her since the first episode. When she entered the palace as embroidery maid, she was fierce and didn't let anyone bully her. She had a drive and because of that she gained a lot of enemies and only few friends. I think this was my favorite part of the story, and I'm probably in the minority with this.

The next section of the story is around the Empress Fuca and Yingluo. They develop a heartfelt relationship, and the the empress keeps Yingluo safe from any harm. In this part of the story we truly get to see what a horrible system the harem and the eunuchs of Forbidden City were. The constant catfights just win favor for one guy feels frustrating at times. The concubines and consorts lack activity and they focus their boredom to schemes and jealousy.

Empress Fuca, played by stunning Qin Lan

The empress Fuca is different, and she is one of the only female characters in the show that is genuinely good and wishes no harm to others. She is very melancholic and sad because of her son's death but eventually she becomes strong again and takes responsibility of an empress seriously. She and the emperor have a relationship that is based on love.

Since I am just spouting out my thoughts, I will not go into details about the plot and how the story goes forward. Wei Yingluo wants revenge for her sister's death, and she develops feelings towards the Empresses's brother, Fuheng. This is one of the most frustrating part of the story, since the two of them have strong feelings towards each other and even the empress Fuca supports their marriage. But the marriage plans go south because the Emperor who has a childish crush on Yingluo, does not let them marry.

And because of that plot point it feels very hard to support the Emperor's and Yingluo's relationship in the later episodes. He is constantly changing his favorite concubine, treating Yingluo with a cold shoulder and acting jealous even when Fuheng and Yingluo have an innocent conversation. I understand that the story has to be about the Emperor and Yingluo in the end, but both characters were actually better before Yingluo became his concubine.

Emperor was more likeable when Empress Fuca was alive. He seemed to be uninterested with dallying around with the concubines and was more focused with governing his country. As we move forward with the story he is constantly jealous and keeps walking around the inner palace just to check what his concubine's are doing. Just by chance he walks in when they are doing whatever foolish stuff they have plotted to get his attention. Yingluo obviously plays this game the best, but it is clear that she is actually into him and even when the truth about Empress Fuca's death is revealed it wasn't Yingluo who found about it. It just feels creepy to me that they were so close, and the empress truly loved the emperor and she wanted Yingluo leave the palace and live a happy life.. But then Yingluo would actually enter the palace and become enarmoured with her late sister/protector's dear husband. It felt wrong to me.

It is also funny how the other concubines keep telling Yingluo how before no one could escape her wrath but she has become docile and never acts. And they are right, Yingluo that we saw in the beginning of the show would have definitely tried to escape the palace and perhaps even plot to escape with Fuheng. It is almost impossible to think that the imperial concubines and consorts are not suffering from stockholm syndrome. When they enter the palace, they may never leave and they can never have any other man than the emperor. Affairs were punishable with death. And the funny thing is, most emperors had thousands of concubines. So it's not like they most likely even knew most of them. Women were just mere possessions, forced to live their lives confined inside the inner palace.

Real and Show-Empress Nara, played by Charmaine Sheh

I loved the show and I think in a way it was criticizing the harem system the overbearing sexism in the society. Few characters mention it is a shame that Yingluo is not a man, because if she was she could become really powerful. The Empress Fuca clearly didn't enjoy the life of an empress. She had to conceal her true self from the world and act accordingly with the role of an empress. Her birth name was stripped from her (the empress is literally just called Your Highness the Empress and is given a new name after they die) and all her interests such as dancing she had to stop because it wasn't appropriate anymore. The emperor Qianlong doesn't understand this and they have an interesting conversation which afterwards he concludes as I never actually knew who the empress really is.

It is not fair to hate the emperor and if I'm honest, I do like his character. It is just very hard for me to root for a lovestory that is being set in the harem, because in the end all the love scenes between the emperor and the concubines (even Yingluo) feels forced. This is the main difference between this drama and Empresses in the Palace (2015). In Empresses in the Palace the main female character despises the emperor in the end and just pretends to like him just for the sake of protecting her children. She conspires with another concubine to kill the emperor and she gets her revenge, but is also confined to live her days alone with all of her loved ones gone.

Yingluo never seems to resent the emperor no matter what he has done to her. Neither does Fuca Fuheng. Both Yingluo and Fuheng just accept the emperor's mood swings and tantrums and even when the opportunity rises for them to escape, they stay loyal to the emperor. I do like this kind of love story as well though, since it feels like Yingluo and Fuheng were actually more like soulmates, and they will be together in the afterlife. Their love feels more real than Yingluo and the emperor's relationship.

Towards the very end the emperor redeems himself in the eyes of the audience by staying true to Yingluo and telling her that he just wanted to make her jealous and he never trusted Chenbi. Nevertheles, after almost starving to death and living in isolation, Yingluo is happy to be back with the emperor and the scheming concubines.

Yingluo and the empress Nara have a truce and the empress promises not to hurt any royal children, the truce lasts 10 years. In the end, the empress descends into madness. I think part of the reason is that her path to power was paved with the blood of her friends and enemies. She was one of the main machinators behind Empress Fuca's death and many others she killed with her own hands. She claims that her love for the emperor is eternal and again one might wonder is it really love or just fear. The position of an Empress is not easily threatened and in the end she is her own demise. She cuts her hair in one of the crucial scenes where the last deception is unveiled. Cutting one's hair is an extreme taboo in the manchu culture and the Empress Nara is taken away by the guards.

Yingluo is struggling and almost dying, but Fuheng found her the antidote to save her life, and by doing so he died himself. Fuheng's friend Hailancha delivers the last plead from Fuheng to Yingluo, asking her if she can take care of him in the next life in which Yingluo says "Yes, I promise." Again, it feels cruel that these two never got each other, and Fuheng's love for Yingluo had stayed absolute throughout the whole story. He helped her to the very end, even when she became Emperor's concubine. We can only hope that they truly get to be together in the next life.
The Ending; Emperor and Imperial Noble Consort Ling

Noble Consort Ling (Yingluo) becomes Imperial Noble Consort after the Empress Nara is stripped from her title and she rules the inner palace. The last scene is with Yingluo and the Emperor, embracing each other happily. I do like their lovestory as well, especially in the very last episodes, but I can't just shake it off from my mind that I think the whole deal feels so forced..

We can are left to wonder what kind of love is between the main male and female leads and is the love between Fuheng and Yingluo more precious, or is it just different.

Overall, I loved the drama and the characters. It sucked me in from the first episode to the very last and I think the overall writing was absolutely excellent, much better work than what I could say about american TV shows nowadays..

This was more like a rant and initial thoughts that were in my mind so please understand that this is not a review. I recommend this show to absolutely anyone who likes period costume drama and romance shows!!

Vegan Product Review / Vegaani Tuote Arvostelu : Lenny & Larry's The Complete Cookie Choc-O-Mint Flavor

This Post Will be also in Finnish (at the end).

Lenny & Larry's The Complete Cookie
Choc-O-Mint!!

Starting off as a great day when I get to eat a cookie with my coffee and then write about it haha. I Love Lenny & Larry's tbh. Their cookies are excellent and they're packed with protein. It's still a bit of junk food, as all processed foods are in the end.

So far I have tasted their Double Chocolate, Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip and White Chocolate Macadamia nut.

I found this flavor in Helsinki Finland, I have literally never seen it before so I had to get it (I also love chocolate & mint -stuff).

Their cookies are completely vegan, non soy, non gmo and they have 10g of fiber, 16g of protein.

Nutrition facts in Finnish and English:

How it looks like before I start eating it.. (Sorry about the lovely kitchen background haha).

How it looks inside..

The first bite: Consistency is good. It's the same as in their other cookies. It's more chewy than crispy and its not gooey inside. Their cookie consistency remind me of protein bars. Or it reminds me of a dry cake, the kind your grandma makes. The mint flavor is faint, but recognisable. I think honestly it's my new Larry & Lenny's favorite flavor. The big cookie has 16g of protein so that is always a plus.

I think these cookies are best to eat while traveling or doing something active, I don't think they necessarily are the classic dessert cookies.

Overall Score;

4/5

Suomeksi:

Olen aikaisemminkin syönyt Lenny & Larry's yhtiön valmistamia keksejä (oikeastaan olen kokeillut melkein kaikki maut mitä olen USA:ssa nähnyt), joten tiesin mitä odottaa. Nämä keksit muistuttavat enemmänkin proteiinipatukkaa tai kuivakakkua, joten älä odota että kohtaat rasvaisen ihanan Subway -tyylisen jenkkikeksin paketin avattuasi.

Proteiinin lähteenähän tätä mainostetaan ja ainakin USA:ssa näitä myydään kuntosaleilla ja apteekin tyylisissä kaupoissa. En tiedä miten tästä on hyötyä treenaamisen kanssa, mutta isossa keksissä on kuitenkin 16g proteiinia.

Choc-O-Mint maku on aika vieno, ei kovinkaan vahva toisin kuin jossain fazerin minttusuklaa konvehdeissa. Pidän kuitenkin tästä mausta koska minttu on maistettavissa. Kaiken kaikkiaan annan neljä viidestä, sillä tykkään tämän yhtiön kekseistä ja tämä taitaa olla nyt minun uus lemppari maku.

Reminice

Oh man, I really miss the early fall. I am NOT a winter person at all. Can't stand it for the life of me. I am not a snow queen.. So here are some photographs I took that you and I can look at at and wish for the snow to melt!!

I love how blue everything looks at this lake. I don't even remember the name of this place but it is one of the most common places I go when visiting family.

These photographs kind of bring me hope to re-think and re-evaluate my life. And I really hope I will not be so hopeless and unbalanced as I was in 2018.

I started meditating so I really hope I find help in that. My anxiety is sometimes having way too much control and I am not sure what I want from my life. Meanwhile I just keep drawing cats and talk about ghosts. Hahah!

Me and the Tarot

If you are someone who is into tarot cards, do you ever get that feeling that in some days the deck calls to you? (Don't worry, I'm not insane.) But those of you who can relate, It's pretty interesting how divination works.. And my favorite divination tool is the tarot.

MY first introduction to tarot cards was in my elementary school years. I was a weird, weird kid and I already dabbled into that mystic / paranormal / divination section at my local library.. So, I guess I learned about tarot from one of those books I read.

In my current life state right noww.....I want to practice more tarot card readings so I'll get better with them.

So here is my finance tarot spread that I did today.

I used this spread from mywanderingfool.com:

So summary of spread is ; Good girl get a grip and things will be successful for you. It is mostly positive, rational and very logical set of tarot cards. Page of Pentacles really describes my current situation well. Everything is ok, but you're kind of naive.. Haha.

Oh and by the way, yes I use Rider-Waite deck. I just feel like it's the most simple one to "read" the cards. I don't know, maybe I'm not enough experimental.

I usually take out my deck when I feel unsure and troubled about my future. I only shuffle the cards when I feel like I'm upset about something. And usually thats how it should be. You can only use them for specific problems. Especially spreads. I do think that drawing out "card of the day" is ok, but in the end tarot is in my opinion meant to help you organize in your mind what is already in there.

Not that I don't believe in the supernatural side of the cards. I have to start doing these readings weekly to get better with it. I don't think I can do daily card draw because I don't feel like I need it. And one should never use divination tools if they don't feel like they have a need for it. It not about that something negative would come out of it, but more like the *answers* you might get will not make any sense at all. The cards will seem and *are* random.

So to wrap it up,

I wanted to write this post not as an expert on tarot, but as someone who has a long history with them. (More or less active.. ) And show how my journey with them progresses.

A Day in the Life

I feel incredibly blessed that I live in this kind of environment. It has it's pros and cons, but overall there is still unspoken calmness into it that really captivates and inspires me.

The dogs were playing on top of a frozen lake. The trees you see in the background - it's actually an island.

Hope you all have a great week ahead of you. Everything has a positive and negative, and before you can grasp them both we usually forget and move on. Stay in the moment.

(The dogs are not mine :D )
My camera is canon 5D mkII.

"Call Me By Your Name" Movie..Sequel(?) Thoughts *SPOILERS*

Yes.

I am late on this. But I had to write a short review after I FINALLY got to watch this movie. First of all- I heard about this movie because it was shocking people around the world due to it's explicit sexual scenes.. So, haha, I was naturally curious. My thoughts were: Is it really gonna be *that* shocking? I like shocking ..AND I usually prefer movies that have this kind of feedback, because usually it tells more about our society than about the movie itself..

This is a beautiful movie. It is set in atmospheric 1987 summer in Italy. We get to experience the perfect summer where the characters can bicycle anywhere, read a book under a tree, swim wherever.. Eat fresh fruits from your own backyard. It is perfect.

In Finland this movie was recently screened for high school kids and.. well. Apparently the sexual scenes were too much and the conservative party was upset. I wonder if the shock value would have been this high if the story would be about heterosexual couple..

Nevertheless. If you're reading and you haven't seen the movie.. Here's the quick summary: Elio (Timotheé Chalamet) is a 17 years old teenage boy (in movie 20) and Oliver (Armie Hammer) is a university student who comes to work for Elio's archeologist father over summer. We get to see how their affection develops, until finally it becomes a full blown romance. The kind of first love that you've always wanted.

Now, the sex. No - there is no graphic sexual scenes between the two men (of course we see a naked woman). Both actors had signed no nudity in their contracts, so I guarantee you will not see anything.. It is an erotic movie, but eroticism comes from lots of other things than sex. It is the chemistry and kissing, it is the anger and the fear between the two. I'm sure that most popular movies are way more pornographic than Call Me By Your Name.

Now.. I heard that there is going to be a sequel. Man, I don't stan sequels (most of the time) and I definitely avoid watching them... So when I read about this I wasn't thrilled.

As someone who hasn't read the book I had to go and check if the book has more material for another movie. Technically it does.. But, the resolution will be the same. The two men do not have each other in the book not even after 20 years.  The way the first movie ends already implies that, so we don't need anyone to highlight this fact by making a sequel.

I'm still intrigued.. Only because it seems that the cast and the director will be the same. What worries me that the screenwriter didn't seem enthusiastic about writing the sequel. So.. That's worrisome. But I guess I'll watch it eventually when it comes out!! XOXO

Vegan Travel HEL - CPN - SFO

The First time I decided to document what I'm eating during transcontinental travel.

So..I started my trip from Helsinki Vantaa Airport. I stayed in a hotel over night because I had an early flight. Anyone who has been in a Nordic country knows that their airports can be fairly expensive, and as I'm traveling with budget - I just went to a grocery store that was in Terminal 2 and got some snacks from there.

That particular bread from the brand Makula wasn't really mindblowing. To be honest I have had it before but I feel like they changed the recipe. It was not very good this time. Keeping it at 100!! Rye snacks is such a finnish thing and I also want to eat seeminlgy little bit healthier so I got those. Pretty basic stuff for anyone who wants salty snacks.

And off to Copenhagen Airport..

First of all I haven't been traveling there much before so I didn't know much about the vegan options in there. Surprisingly there are quite many places offering vegan food, but mostly it is salads and/or bread. And as I was bored with bread from last night and I wasn't feeling for it. Then I saw the good ol' Pret A Manger and I knew they had Vegan coconut porridge. I chose to eat that for breakfast.

And what do vegans get to eat during long flights?
Well, first of all you have to most of the time pay extra for specific meal requirements. That should already be an extra reason for airlines to try to make the meals better. I have used mostly Star alliance airlines on my longer flights.

This meal was pretty good. I rather have pasta like this than some weird vegan food experiment. This was also the first time when an airline has had a normal dessert for vegans that was exactly the same as the omni option. It's usually ALWAYS few sad pieces of fruit, nothing wrong with fruit, but we pay for this meal.. and it would be nice to have something like this more often since the options exist.
This meal was on Scandinavian Airlines.
